1 What is Qifti? »

Every wanted to leave a message in a bar "you were there" but you didn't want to damage the walls? Qifti enables you to do just that with you mobile phone instead of a pen!

Qifti enables every location on the planet to have it's own unique online wall on which everyone and anyone can write messages.

2 Whats the story behind Qifti? »

People have been leaving messages on locations all over the world since 40.000 bc. It started with various cave paintings. Cave paintings have gone through an evolution. Graffiti as we all know it, could be considered the modern version of cave paintings.

Some even consider the recent development of microblogging as a form of online grafitti. The big difference with the current online grafitti (or cave paintings as you will) is that they are just floating in cyberspace. They're not attached to an physical location.

Qifti adds that physical connection and enables the creation of online graffiti that is linked to our world.

3 Where does the name Qifti come from? »

Qifti (pronounced as 'kiftee') is linked with the Egypt city of Qift and with the versatile arab writer Ibn Al-Qifti (born 1172). 4 Can I post messages at home when I know the URL? »

Yes you can. Qifti used plain URL's and although we don't encourage it we won't try and prevent posting from other locations... but com'on where's the fun in that.

5 Why cant I post using my normal webbrowser? »

Qifti is all about "being there" and thus design for mobile use. Sitting behind a normal webbrowser you can browse through Qifti's but participating is only possible through a mobile webbrowser.

6 How do I know if there's a Qifti wall where I'm at? »

Start looking for the Qifti Tag with the URL / QR Code

7 There's no Qifti tag here, what now? »

Create a new wall at home, print the Qifti tag and the attach it to the location next time you're there.

8 I want to leave a message but there's no wall here? »

If you're a registered user you can create walls using your phone. But remember, as long as no-one knows the wall is there it will be a cold and lonely place for your messages. So start promoting and write the URL immediately on the physical walls!

9 What's that strange barcode on the Qifti tag? »

Thats a QR Codes. Using a QR Code reader you can easily get onto the Qifti wall without having to manually enter the Qifti URL.

10 Can I delete a wall that I've created? »

No, once created the wall is there for eternity. The walls are in public domain so no-one has the "right" to delete them.

11 Do I have to be a registered user to leave messages on the wall? »

No, everyone can post messages. No registration required. Posting messages quick and anonymously is part of what makes Qifti so fun. If you however want to track the messages you've posted you do need to register.

12 Do I have to be a registered user to create a wall? »

No, everyone can create a wall. Going to Qifti.com and clicking on "create wall" is all that is required to get you going.

13 Can I delete messages for walls that I've created? »

No, you can't.

14 What are cool places to generate a wall for? »

The best places are where people come together. So public transport, musea, bars, clubs, school are very suited to have Qifti walls.

15 How much does Qifti cost? »

Qifti is free. Writing messages, creating wall and registration is doesn't cost a dime. If you want to post messages Qifti requires an internet connection on you mobile phone, you're operator probably charges you for this. Be sure to check their rates before using Qifti on you mobile phone.

16 Is Qifti different from Twitter? »

You can compare Twitter and Qifti in a way that they both are platforms that enable people to post messages. The difference is that Qifti is about location, about "being there" and about participating with the people around you.

17 Who can use Qifti? »

Everyone can use Qifti either you just doing it for fun or you have a business.

18 Where can I apply Qifti tags? »

Qifi works great on stationary locations (eg. bars / schools / etc.) but also with moving locations (eg. metro / bus / bicycle). Qifti tags can even be applied to objects like bottles or even business cards!

19 Do I need permission to apply Qifti stickers »

We encourage everyone to make their own Qifti tags and attach them on location but only with permission of the rightful owner of the location. Defacing is not what Qifti stands!

20 What are Qiftis? »

Qiftis are messages left behind by people on Qifti.

21 Who are ... people? »

Builders: people who create and spread Qifti tags
Painters: people who write messages in Qifti caves
Tourists: people who only visit Qifti caves to view messages

22 Why should I register? »

Registered users can manage (skin) cave's they've created.
You also have a history of their posted messages.
You can add friends to your contact-list (opensocial)
You have an personal inbox in which you can see direct replies on your messages

23 Do I need to install additional software on my phone in order to use Qifti? »

Qifti doesn't require any additional software. The only thing required is the standard mobile webbrower on your phone and a internet connection.

24 But what about the QR Codes, do I need software to scan them? »

In order to scan the QR Codes you need a QR Code reader on your phone. Some new phones are already shipping with a preloaded reader but in most cased you'll need to download and install one. Check http://reader.kaywa.com/ or http://www.quickmark.com.tw/ and see if there's a reader available for your phone.
